Brockmann Campus, Clark County Behavioral Health and Treatment Center
Washington DSHS
BWBR and BCRA partnered with the State of Washington on an immersive predesign and programming process for new community-based facilities for civilly committed individuals, including the design of the Oak Unit on the Maple Lane campus. This same team then worked to develop the design for the Brockmann Campus, consisting of three 16-bed facilities, serving up to 48 patients at a time.
The design supports the State Department of Social and Health Services’ goals of providing person-centered care, and BWBR’s Human-Centered Safety® approach helped to inform a therapeutic environment that prioritizes both patient and staff wellbeing. With views to nature, welcoming and home-like furniture and aesthetics, and thoughtful integration into the surrounding community, the facilities enhance compassionate care, reflect clinical best practices, and support better patient outcomes. Designed for zero net energy use, the project uses sustainable strategies such as rooftop solar panels, stormwater management practices, and glazing that maximizes views while minimizing heat gain.
Designed in collaboration with architect of record, BCRA Design.
